And so it begins………

1 Oct

October. Day 1 of 31. I’m going to post every day. Why, you ask?  (Or maybe you don’t.  Just play along for gawd sakes!)  Well, I’ve accepted WordPress.com’s Post a Day Challenge for the month of October.  Yes indeedy. This girl’s in training. Training for the big one. What big one, you ask?  (Or maybe you don’t, but you’re playing along, remember?)

November marks the beginning of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), a project in which thousands of writers around the world each try to complete a 50,000 word novel by November 30th.   The folks at NaNoWriMo tell us it’s all about quantity, not quality, so it’s just a case of writing, writing, writing. Would you rather write an imperfect-but-complete novel, or just dream about doing it some day in the future?  The Post A Day challenge is to help writers set time aside so you actually write something everyday.  Come November, when you have to write an average of 1,667 words a day, you’ve already gotten into the habit of sitting down every single day and writing. You can write crap, as long as you write.

I like these challenges for different reasons.  October is my very favorite month of the year.  If I can’t find something to write about every single day this month, then it won’t be happening anytime soon. October is my best chance of suceeding with part one of this project.  As for November , it has to be the most boring month of the year, so there’s more chance I’ll sit and write then than at any other time, so maybe that’s lucky for part two of this project.

And so it begins…..Day 1.  Done.

I can’t commit to the challenge so I commend you for taking it on.

Hi Harnew! I’m probably being way over-ambitious, but what the heck…..nothing ventured, nothing gained. Thanks for visiting!
